the air is cold, even in Orange Country, as I sit on the curb, watching the night sky
watching for that blinding streak of brilliance, watching the time pass on by, waiting
i feel a slow creeping cold crawl up my body, sending shivers down my spine
i crawl even deeper into my jacket, concealing myself as I always have
afraid to show my face, hiding
hiding from you, even though you are the one who I desire
seems unhealthy no?
beating myself up inside for all those times i ran away, hiding in plain sight
just like always
i look up again, hopeful that this time I might catch just but a fleeting glimpse
but I still can't see you
blurry and out of my cone of vision I stumble blindly forwards through the empty streets
searching through the darkness to where you might be
an elusive ghost, lingering just beyond my grasp
a sharp pain ricochets through the back of my head, jolting me out
as i sit up, now fully awake, feeling the cold hard concrete beneath me
I look skywards once again, one last time tonight, hopeful
but the clouds have again obscured your face from me
once again, i turn in, and go to sleep
i will be back tomorrow
it's like chasing a most beautiful shadow into the dark night
"The annual Perseid meteor shower is expected to put on a good show this week for those willing to get up in the wee hours of the morning and wait patiently for the shooting stars.
In North America, the best time to watch will be between midnight to 5 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 12, but late Tuesday night and also Wednesday night could prove fruitful, weather permitting."
